The Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach was founded in 1853 and is thus celebrating 150 years of existence in 2003. Today two out of three citizens of Mönchengladbach are customers of the Stadtsparkasse. They are at the centre of all activity. Geographic proximity is assured by 39 branch offices, 57 ec ATMs, 95 statement printers and the internet homepage www.sparkasse-moenchengladbach.de. Closeness to customers, however, can also be understood in terms of people, with motivated and qualified staff. The financial strength of the Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach exclusively benefits the people and companies in Mönchengladbach. The credit institute supports the regional structure and economic development with numerous measures and carries out all activities in the interest of the citizens of the city and surrounding area.

As a sponsor, every year the Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach provides significant sums for social, cultural, sport, school, traditional customs and youth purposes. The “Sparkasse Trust for Art and Science” was established in 1987. It supports scientific projects and purchases many works of art with its earnings. The “Sparkasse Trust for Mönchengladbach” was set up in the year 2000. Its earnings are used to support a wide range of charitable purposes in Mönchengladbach.
